Stepping into a New Chapter
Well, here we go. A new website, a new journey, and my first step into the world of social media. At 74, you might say I’m fashionably late to the party, but better late than never, right?
First, a quick shout-out to Rishi on Fiverr, who set up this website for me on WordPress. If you ever need a site, go find him—fast, skilled, and incredibly affordable. And now, with this beautifully crafted space, I have a new challenge: figuring out how to actually use it. At the very least, I know how to post…so here I am.
A Year of Challenges, A Lifetime of Faith
This year hasn’t started the way I’d hoped. Two months of sciatica, followed by a bout of atrial fibrillation, left me knocked down but not out. Then came my wife’s long battle with kidney stones—painful, relentless, and without easy solutions. And now, we’re walking through another trial, supporting our son as he waits for a liver transplant. His journey has taken us from Florida to Wisconsin, where the University of Wisconsin Medical Center, a leader in transplants, will give him the second chance he needs.
It’s a lot. But through it all, I hold onto my faith. I trust in God’s timing and His promises:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
The Awakening
One bright spot in all of this has been my writing. After three completed books, I’ve made the decision to self-publish through Kindle KDP—an adventure of its own. My first novel, The Awakening, is ready to go; all I need is to pick the right person on Fiverr to help finalize things.
It’s a Christian young adult adventure novel following a teenager navigating a broken home, an abusive stepfather, and a mother struggling with faith. Along the way, he faces near-death experiences—a waterfall plunge, a car accident, and a snowstorm—all leading to moments of discovery, redemption, and transformation. It’s a story about finding faith in the darkest moments, and I hope when it comes out, it moves readers just as deeply as it has moved me while writing it.
